Even the sun-clouds this morning cannot manage such skirts.
Nor the woman in the ambulance
Whose red heart blooms through her coat so astoundingly--
A gift, a love gift
Utterly unasked for
By a sky
Palely and flamily
Igniting its carbon monoxide, by eyes
Dulled to a halt under bowlers.
O my God, what am I
That these late mouths should cry open
In a forest of frost, in a dawn of cornflowers.
- Poppies in October by Sylvia Plath
hahahaha you're funny, but this is kind of a serious issue here. there are no non-denominational prayer spaces at barnard or columbia, so religious jews (who pray 3 times a day) and muslims (who pray 5 times a day) have to hunt around for whatever quiet spaces they can find - which usually end up being the study lounge. so...it ends up being disruptive both for those trying to study and those trying to pray. :/
ReplyDeletei did not know that. you're right, that is a problem!
